I think this is the biggest question that faces a and you will never find a definitive answer. I'll throw in my two cents thou I use reef crystals. It's always consistant for me and instant ocean is as old as the hobby itself

seachem reef has high calcium, mag, & alk, so not only is it cheaper than tropic marine pro reef, I'm saving money on dosing my 2 part additive!

All salt surveys in the end come to a simliar conclusion. No one recreates the parameters found in the ocean, and because we supplement our tanks with whatever we're lacking, it really doesn't matter which salt we use.

From the Chart above, it looks like Calcium, Alkalinity and Magnesium is best with the Oceanic salt (i.e. 580 8.5 1650 ).

It's early , but if I remember correctly those ratios are off.

Those numbers are way over recommend levels of Ca and Mg. Why do you say that salt is the best?

Salt debates can get pretty heated . The truth of the matter is that no salt is perfect and that each one is really just about the same. I recommend just picking one that is cost effective and sticking with it. The odd thing is that most of the salts are manufactured by just a few different companies. How different could they be?

Very true. The different companies send their mix of elements to the major manufacturers of salts to make their specific blends.
