I made a WTB post yesterday inquiring for green nepthea. Typically when I am looking for any given coral, at least one person in ARC chimes in immediately. I found it strange that I got no replies last night, so I looked into this coral a bit and discovered that it's actually extinct in the wild and quite rare in aquariums nowadays despite it being common in the past. I also discovered that it is often referred to as Palau Nepthea, because that is where it originates from. It's similar to Sinularia in color, and grows like typical Kenyan tree in shape, but is easier to maintain.

I originally wanted to buy some. Now I'm more interested in your thoughts and opinions. Does anyone here own this beautiful softie?

Never heard of it, but I found a couple of sites that have it in stock:

Don't know anything about those sellers though.

Also, Live Aquaria has a tan one in stock.

I have some but it is not doing great. not really growing but I think I had it is a less then perfect spot. Its around I got mine from Nemos but I have seen some members selling it a while back.

I've never ordered from Frank's, but his specimen looks brilliant. I'd rather not pay the $60 shipping fee but if that's what it takes to get a nice chunk of this beauty, then so be it! Can you vouch for them?

Mind sharing a photo of the specimen?

Pretty sure that’s what I have I thought it was sinularia

Way to tell Nepthea from Sinularia is Sinularia will have tiny needle like protrusions at the base of the coral called scerlites. Nepthea does not have these. Still, both are beautiful corals

Definitely has the sharp pieces, bet you would never guess how I know that

Congrats on your Sinularia and here's to being pricked many more times!

I was about to say that photo of it looks exactly like the sinularia that was fragged at the last meeting
Colors are a little distorted but it is pretty close
