What would be the highest PH in reef tank? I read an article about PH, it said you could have it up to 8.5
What is your PH? And how much did it swing during the day and night?

Mine stays pretty steady drops to about 7.8 and raises to 8.1 I use backing soda and pickling lime in ro water this works for me.

8.12 @ night, 8.23 @ daytime. After a water change it is usually more around 8.23-8.36. I do weekly water changes! So by Thursday - Friday it will creep down. I do my changes on Saturday typically.

Heh if your Kalkwasser dumps into your tank all at once, it can shoot up to 9.

Do NOT try that at home (but some have...). Mine shot past what my test kit could read once... that's when I quit using Kalkwasser. Stupid doser had gremlins and would dump every time I wasn't looking.

I would not waste my time chasing pH numbers in a reef tank. You should try, instead, to maintain your KH, magnesium and calcium levels within normal range. Keep your KH in range, and your pH will be fine.
