If you find videos of new gen LED fixtures post the information here.

Here is the Ecotech video from Youtube. VERY cool. i wonder if you can control it with an ipad app :)

Man... I know ecotech is really one of those companies we saltwater hobbyists turn to for cutting edge tech, quality, and service... but i'm not sold on their LED units. Everything I've seen indicates that you need a lot of LEDs to make a good replacement for MHs or T5s. If you look on RC and go over threads where individuals proclaim success with LEDs, you'll also notice that they have 2 units for every 2 feet of their tank (if they have SPS ... one otherwise). Given that the Radion is rated for one for every 40 gallons or 2x2 foot space, its comparable to an AI... meaning you'd still need 6 on a 180? *I realize that they say you dont need this many, but if you read the threads, the only people having any success in an SPS dominant tank have to double the rule.

I wonder too... is this thing (Radion) THAT much better than an AI unit. $350 more for a few extra bells and whistles... na... dont think so. I'm going to try my hand at the eshinesystems units that I've been talking about on here and RC. They're cheap enough to get enough units, feature Bridgelux LEDs and I've seen success with these in person.

im not sure you actually need more LEDs to replace MH or T5s..it just depends on the quality of the LED...one of the most popular LEDs for 50 gallons and under (par 38s)has only 5..it depends on the focusing lenses , angle, etc...the kessils and orphek pendants only have one i believe and simulate 150w and 250w MHs..the echtechs look cool..i dont think flashing light bulbs simulate lightning necessarily though lol

+1 I think I'm going to give the Eshine Systems a go. Going to Trinh's (purplegorilla) on Wed I believe to check his out and solidify my decesion. For the money you just can't beat them.
