After I get back from vacation next week I plan on getting my new tank. I'll be going from my 36g to a 90g. I plan on using new sand and giving all my rock that I currently have (may grab some from reefcleaners too) an acid bath before using it. I'm starting over with the rock b/c I'm having bad HA issues and I cannot figure out where the PO4 is coming from. I think it may be one or two of the larger pieces I'm currently using since my previous tank didn't have any issues. I was thinking about using some of my current sand to transfer then just transfer all coral contents to the new tank. I'm guessing this would still cause a standard cycle to occur? I'm not in a real big hurry to move it over but it'd be nice to do it sooner than later. I've seen people do whole tank transfers before. Any recommendations?

I have done a transfer from a 90 to a 135 and i broke the 90 down and one day and set the 135 up the next day( 135 was going in the same spot as the 90). I transferred all rock and same sand but i washed sand before i put it back in. I added about 40lbs more sand and let the tank sit for a day. i then added rest of livestock and everything came through great. Had a mini cycle but levels never got out of control.

Went from a 35 to my 125 in one evening. The 35 and entertainment center had to go first because that is were the 125 now sits. It's all about planning and preparation.

It's not a problem of one has to come down for the other to go up, I'll be moving my current tank contents from my office to the new tank at my house.

Dont use any old sand......

Add Seachem Stability and Prime & use most of your old water....

I would use Salinity Salt to start with as it has all your parems buffered perfectly and ph is spot on.
