The upgrade

So I'm planning the upgrade from my 55 to the 75. (It's not much, I know, but it will allow me to add a sump and upgrade some equipment.)

I want to put the tank in the same place as it is now, so I have some logistics issues.

My rough plan is to put all my non-coral rock in one rubbermaid tub, and all my corals and fish in another with a light over it, empty the tank, dump the old sand almost entirely, add new sand/water to new tank, let it settle overnight, add in non-coral rock, maybe give it another night, and then acclimate the rest of the critters.

Does this sound ok? Should I try to do it...faster? Anyone have some tips?

I think that you would be fine leaving the corals over night in a rubber made bin and then transferring everything over once the new tank is settled.

You are right on using new water and new sand... once you transfer the live rock over, the system should be stable and ready to go. Looking forward to seeing the new tank

All your corals and fish in one tub might create an ammonia spike... I would put some live rock, corals and fish in one and some live rock, corals and fish in the other.
