'Theme' Tanks?

Just curious as to people's opinions on 'theme' tanks vs. more eclectic and/or natural selections of livestock.

For example, I'm considering a yellow/red/green color theme for my current tank: yellow fish, red inverts, green coral.

Do you have something similar? What do you think of the idea? Is it weird? Bad? Nifty? Do you feel that eclectic or region/biotope tanks are more aesthetically pleasing? Do you think I'm nuts?

Here's my proposed stocklist for that tank, in case you're curious:

FISH: Lemonpeel Dwarf Angel OR Yellow Dwarf Angel...Midas Blenny OR Canary Blenny OR Yellow Sailfin Blenny...Yellow Clown Goby...Yellow Watchman Goby...Yellow Damselfish

INVERTS: Peppermint Shrimp...Camel Shrimp...Sexy Shrimp...Fire Shrimp...Randalli Pistol Shrimp

CORAL: No bloody idea, yet - gonna have to wait for better lighting!

I saw a blue themed tank on another forum recently... I thought it sounded lame but when I took a look at it, it was pretty cool... it would def be different

most themes I have seen have been like "south fl biome or fiji biome" kind of thing

Mine is a more eclectic natural look. I am trying to get more color in the corals, but for right now most of the bright colors come from the fish..

My initial "theme" was gonna be an all Hawaiian indigenous tank......but that only lasted so long.....go here....see something I like.....go there....see something else.....and now after seeing a few other members tanks I'm gonna start thinning my rock out to make a lagoon and island bridges and overhangs.....instead of just putting the rock in and letting it balance itself.....not the greatest idea with a glass tank but I had to.....so I may be giving away a little rock here soon

It will be interesting to see if you get any unusual behaviors with all the fish being yellow. I am not a fish person but I have read that some (obviously they have to see color) fish that don't tollerate others of their own species will also attack like colored species.

I agree. That's one reason I've got all the "ORs" in my list...so that I don't get two fish with the same body shape, so that hopefully the difference in shape will counteract the similarity in color. The only two with really similar sizes/shapes would be the dwarf angel and the damsel...and since angels are tough little S.O.B.s and since damsels are little jerks, I figure they can probably take each other on. Also considering a baby yellow wrasse (moved to the big tank when he grows up), but concerned about temperament.
