I'm curious about doing this (I know the benefits, it's the actual set up).

How weather-protected is your chiller? What kind of "enclosure" did it go into? I'm picturing something dog house-ish in my mind, but I haven't seen a setup in person who ran it outside.

For all I know, they could be just as weatherproof as window A/C units and be rained on safely (temp controls not included of course).

How'd ya do it?

Mine's not outside (yet) Barry, but I'm thinking you need to consider at least these 3 things-

1) protect it from the rain (covered)

2) allow for air to flow around the unit (maybe a 'Dog Shed'?)

3) keep any water in it from freezing (Either- continuous flow , or take it off-line and inside during winter?)

Writing this made me think of varmit proofing it also. Maybe a 'Sreened In' dog shed (go high class on this thing!) - lol

Good luck!

I have been running mine outside for over 5 years. It is under my deck but I still built a simple shed roof to protect it. Simple treated 2x4s and 5/4 decking and roof sheeting. Bought 10 shingles from the busted packages at HD and there you have it! No sides or screening. I did tape a small piece of plastic over the control display to keep it water safe.
