I have been approached by another member here who is looking at re homing a blue tang and a coral beauty angel... would my system support them? I am very interested in them but don't want to get them and then all he// break loose.

Blue tangs can be VERY sensitive. They are one of the more harder fish to keep I guess you can say. It's really all up to you. How big of a tank do you have again? And for the coral beauty angel, They have been known to nip at coral so you would have to take caution with one of those

130 gallon. 6 foot. Plenty of room for the blue tan and it gets up to a foot and the tank is 18 inches wide it will still be able to turn around without hurting or bending itself. The coral beauty is more the one I'm worried about. But he's been in Curtis maximus tank so I'm sure he's accustomed to being a good little fishy. If given proper foods regularly. The research says he can be in a reef tank you just have use caution and make sure to give them a varied diet of meaty and seaweed foods to keel them from eating corals

I have a coral beauty in my 120 6' and it is one of my favorite. Very graceful and is moving all over the tank. I have not seen it nip at my coral and I keep nori on a clip that keeps her busy.

I have a blue tang in my tank. It's only a 90 gallon. Please not bad comments. Their is plenty of room in my tank until I upgrade. But it's your choice of you want the tang. They are prone to ick.

is it a blue Caribbean tang or a regal tang?? If its a regal I'd have metro and focus on hand for when you add him because I'm sure the stress of the move will lead to a minor ich outbreak.

I also have a coral beauty and it does not nip at SPS. I think of all the questionable dwarf angels, the coral beauty is the least likely to cause problems. If he isn't nipping in the current owners tank then I wouldn't worry about him developing the habit in yours.

Honestly if the tang outgrows my tank he can be rehomed. Yes I love my fish but I want happy and healthy so if he has to find a new home he can always look for that when the time comes. I think I'm going for the two. I really like them

Here are the fish in question...

Nothing wrong with either fish. I just want to lighten the bio-load a little. I have three tangs in my 60" long tank and they are all happy and have been wonderful tank mates. The Hippo is about 4.5" and the coral beauty is about 2".

I understand a fully grown Regal/Hippo tang needs a 8' long tank. At his current size I think it is a little ridiculous to demand a 8' long tank.
I know some will disagree.

I have both Metro and Focus I will give when the tang is moved.

Where did the hippo come from? the HHLE scaring looks familiar. looks like it healed well.

I bought him from some guy in Lawrenceville. I cant remember his name unfortunately. The tang was like that when I bought him and have had no problems since.

Yeah I sold mine to someone is L ville. I think its one of my 2 Hippos around. Good fish and she was a trooper. Goodluck with the rehome

They will be coming to good home. I promise and you guys will all see them and hear about them quite often I'm sure. Lol

I think you shoudl wait another month... It's your choice though.
