ok so now I'm considering tying my frag system in progress to my main display.

anyone have pics of this? I want to see who has done a nice job of it...

I really don't want to maintain 2 seperate ecosystems :)

Edit: those of you who HAVE done it.. what advice do you offer

My frag tank is tied into my 93. It actually makes it a lot easier for water changes. I just close the valve that feeds the frag tank, drain it almost all the way, fill it back up, and I'm back to doing what ever I was doing before.

As far as pics... Not much special here. I had been running an oversized pump and was reducing it, after adding the FT, I don't have to reduce it anymore.

if you send me a PM with your email address then I can try to send you pictures of the set-up that I have. For our reef tank system, I have one wet/dry sump that with a mag-drive 18 that is connected to a rear 2" PVC pipe manifold. The rear manifold feeds has a total of four lines that go to the following: the refugium tanks, the 100 gal main tank, the 30 gal (use to be frag tank) clown breeding tank (ya right), and the chiller which then goes into the main tank. As long as you have enough gate valves in the system and a big enough sump and big enough pump then it is possible to feed as many tanks as you you like.

Having two tanks on the same sump is no big deal. Just plumb them each as you would any other tank. Only caveat is make sure your single sump can handle all the draindown from both tanks in case of a power outage. Other than that, nothing else to be worried about, IME. I had a 48" x 18" x 18" SeaLife Systems Berlin Series sump servicing a 300, a 150 and a 34 gallon frag tank all at once, and it did a great job. Lots easier and cheaper than setting up a separate system.

Just place your frag tank near your display tank. Run a second drain to your sump. Split off your return from the pump if it has enough power or purchase new one if not. Am I looking at this too simply.

I've decided these will be 2 different systems :)

I want a tank in another room... and don't want them tied together for various reasons :)

thanks for the input though
