I have them EVERYWHERE in my DT. Not sure where they came from, but they were cute in the beginning now they are a bit of a pain. Is this a result of something that I need take care of? Is there anything that I can do to kill them? Is there anything that will eat them?

Anything else that might kill or eat them. There are WAY too many to try to inject with anything and the set up of the tank doesn't really make for the best accessability.

Just wondering why they are a pain? I have quite a few of these as well. I like them now. Just wondering why I might not like them later :)

They are a sign of a healthy tank. Just filter feeders. Don't harm anything

The populations will generally rise and fall over time. You can increase water changes, skimming and other fltrations to remove suspended matter from the water column that they feed on.

There's feather dusters of varying sizes all over my 20g. I started out with maybe 3 feather dusters from Andy... did you get something from Andy? ;)

As far as liking or not liking them later....

I have ALOT. I wish I would have taken pics last night to post on here. They grow in the sand, on the rock, on the glass and in CLUMPS. I've noticed that they have grown over part of my maze brain that was one of my  early on in the hobby. (left the trunk of my car in JULY for a couple of hours.....only a small portion was left alive....on the dead side, the dusters have taken over) They make the rock less than attractive. And I wonder if they are preventing purple coraline from growing. As, I have it growing on my glass, but no where near what I would have thought that I would have on my rocks by now (8+months after set up)

I've been wanting a good excuse for getting a 6-line, looks like I've now found it (in truth would prefer the CBB.....but again, that CRAZY Sohal would probably chase him to death).

As far as skimming more, my skimmer doesn't remove alot. For filtration I use, DSB, LOTS of LR in tank and in sump on the return side. I do have a good bit of "stuff" in the water column, but honestly.....I'm not into target feeding and that sort of thing with my schedule (and the set up of the aquarium), so.....I've never pressed to put a filter sock on the system. I figure that the "stuff" is feeding everything that NEEDS to be fed (apparently didn't think about the things that DON'T need to be fed!) And...as mentioned in a prior thread, I have a HEALTHY growth of HA in my overflows.

Where did they come from? Yes, I had gone to see Andy WAY back, before I joined ARC (he was the one that told me about ARC actually). He had them in his fuge. He gave me a handful. When I got home, without THINKING I just dumped them over in my DT. I didn't have a fuge set up (still don't) and it NEVER crossed my mind...."hey duh, he has a BOATLOAD in his fuge, says they multiply quickly......1+1=2, therefore they will do the same in my DISPLAY!" I obviously was having a moment. BUT....when I put them over in the tank, my Regal tank attacked. And was eating them before they could settle to the sand. So, I honestly thought...well, crap....there goes my cute little dusters. Little did I realize.

I've not seen him touch one since!

Would a 6 line or CBB mess with my Cocoa Worm or Haiwian Feather Duster?

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I may go ahead and utilize a filter sock on at least one side to help cut down on the free flowing food source.

Well, anything that might eat the small dusters might also eat the large ones.

Cluster dusters - heck I've sold them in the past... funny how that happens, what some folks really want, others find to be a scourge...

PraziPro is reported to kill them - but Jeremy treated his tank with it (for flatworms) and his were fine. Of course that might kill your desirable ones too...

Lots of butterflies eat fanworms, but they are a risk to your corals too.

Peel 'em off and trade 'em in someplace :)
