To use Bio Balls?

I'm setting up 75g RR with the Oceanic 75 sump. it has Bio Balls. should I use them? I've read here and there, yes and no. but I didn't have anything with bio balls. so didn't read a lot into it. and I've also heard to replace them with rock rubble.

Go with rubble, i dont like the bioballs IMO

If you use bioballs, you should have a way to reduce the nitrate they help produce, usually meaning a denitrification filter. I used both for years very successfully.

I have moved on to other methods since. I now carbon dose, and that has it's own particular requirements.

FWIW- an aquarium with nothing but live rock and a good skimmer can be very successful as long as you perform regular partial water changes.

There are several methods for reef keeping out there that work. Do your homework and find out which one is right for you.

Personally, I subscribe to the philosophy of skimmer, live rock, religious (<-- Key word) water changes, and dosing two part. However, my tanks are small. Water changes and dosing volumes are small, and hence they are easier and low cost.
