So.. I'm thinking of adding a wavebox.. Does anyone have experience with them?

The guy from Tunze said the Nano would be enough for my 120g.

any experience with one by anyone? are they worth it?

Does a WAVE motion actually constitute FLOW? I've heard they help keep debtrius suspended, and I have always had an issue with that anyway.

Other current in the tank comes from 2x MP40ws

Thanks for any advice.

I have a wave mode on the MP40s and they do a pretty good job. BUT.. with the MP40ws the constant on off sound bugs me. ALSO I don't feel like a "wave" actually creates flow. Things move back and forth, but water doesn't really seem to get circulated.

Am I right on this?

Indeed. Tunze is A+ all the way around. I've had several products from them. and while they may be expensive they make REALLY good products.

Sorta....

but the reality is that waves "keep things suspended" while current moves the suspended particles..

it's best to have a wave motion that circulates with an underlying current..

I just realized i was the OP on this in 2009 haha...

since then I've decided NOT to wave box btw :)

It was hard to keep a good standing wave AND have directional flow without interrupting the wave.

Rbredding, thank for the graphics!

It helped me understand how wave motion does and does not affect water motion due to depth.
