I have had a neon green toadstool for over a year now but the tentacles will just barely poke out. It is about the size of a baseball. I have a "normal" tan toadstool in the same general area and the tentacles are long and flow with the current. Any advice? Thanks! :)

How long has it been staying retracted? since you bought it??? I had one do this a few weeks into owning it and it stayed that way for months before i finally sliced it right down the middle and iodine bathed it. Afterwards I have 2 now GIANT toadstools and they both extended polys within days after. Just something to think about. I by no means recommend this as your first attempt at a "fix"

I've had problems with two tyree toadstool and now just added a huge one that after two days still has not extended. While shipping stress is likely the culprit at this point. I can't help but think based on my experience with them that their not all that bulletproof that I always thought they were.

Jesse, If your toadstool is that new, if I remember correctly, you might look for it to shed its skin before it starts to extend. They do that periodically, look like heck, then they open up really nice.

Yeah good flow will help them shed faster. My toadstool looks like hell right now, always does when shedding.

How often do they shed for you grant?

Before I realized what it was doing, I thought it was dying. I'd just place it in the back of the tank, then a couple weeks later it'd perk up. Darnedest thing.

My toadstool is doing the same thing. I have had it for a year. Then all of a sudden for the last 2 or 3 weeks it wont extend its polyps. It changes shape all day so I know its not dead. Toadstools are strange.
