Hello. Newbie here. Attached video shows new dual reactor. Is that too much tumble for the GFO? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Back it down some. To much flow IMO. GFO can handle high flow and remove PO4 but it's likely sending particles into the tank.

You are wasting GFO, good tumble...these guys don't realize it's a dual so nothing with get into your display...if you have carbon in the out....after the GFO...

Anyway, GFO works works for a week or 10 days max before bacteria coats its ands renders its useless...use small amounts and Change it weekly...a cup or a cup and 1/5...

No need to do anything now with what you have going on now though....

I also have the dual brs reactor and I put the discharge pipe into my 100 micron felt filter sock. I will tell you that there is often an orange stain near the end of the tube so some does escape even if you have carbon in the second chamber. It's not much more than a dime sized stain, and I do run 2+ gallons of tank water through the GFO before I put the return back into the tank.

I do a little less tumble than what you have, but I too have struggled with what's the correct tumble.

Thanks for the replies. I did turn it down just a bit. It is a dual reactor with the second container having carbon. I have a 120 gallon tank and the instructions on the GFO container from BRS said about 1 tbs per 4 gallons. Sounds like too much to use, right?

Make sure you rinse extremely well with RO/DI water water first..... I rinse with at least 3 or 4 gallons and there are no fines any longer....

I did run through almost 2 gallons of RO/DI water first. I assume I need to do that every time I change the GFO or carbon.

If you are using the dual brs, with carbon in the second

Just used a cup or two max of GFO (sorry, I use the hfc, so it's only 1 cup) and change it weekly max 10 days

Use less, change often

Seth maybe right on the tumble, is the whole container moving like that or just the top 1 inch or so?

if it's the whole container, Seth is correct and lower the flow, albeit it won't make it to the tank, it's too fast to do it's job, AND the gfo will start to crumble.

you just want the top 20% "percolating"......
