I bought a Torch coral about a month ago and it still has not opened all they way. It is placed in the bottom of tank with good light. It does seem to be getting good water flow. A friend of mine aid it might be getting too much flow. It only opens up to about 1/2 inch from the base. Any suggestions?

If it's not opening up I actually doubt it's due to a lack of light. Most LPS in my experience will open even more than normal in lower light conditions in order to take as much advantage of it as possible. I have, however, had Euphylias (torches, frogspawns, hammers) stay partially closed from too much light too soon, and too much flow. They are very tolerant of high light, but need some acclimation to get there. If they are in a lot of flow they risk tearing tissue against the skeleton if expanded, so they won't open up to avoid the damage/irritation. I would look to putting it in a calmer, dimmer spot for a bit and see what happens.
