Hey guys,

My 29g is doing great. 2 clarkii, a caudern, and inverts. I was thinking about trading one of my clarkii in for something else. I have heard that in the long run, that if the fish don't pair, there could be problems. Plus, I heard the rule was one Clarkii per tank. Any thoughts? Where could I trade it? Anyone interested?

if you want them to pair up it may take some time...certainly not gonna happen immediatly. My maroons did not get along and i had to part with one but my occelaris in my other tank took to each other almost instantly. Do you want another fish or do you want them to pair up? I would give it more time if you wnat them to become a pair.

I would like them to pair up, but one tends to chase the other. I think this is normal behavior, but I still worry because no matter how much research I do, I found that there is no consensus about whether it is one or two Clarkii max.

I am not a clarkii expert but I think you may possibly need to give them more time to pair up. How long have you had the two fish together?

I've had maroons and oci. clowns and it took them 6+ mos to pair up....or at least tolerate eachother, lol.

I have had them together for two months. The other thing is that they are both the same size. I heard the bigger one becomes female.

how big are they now...were they both juvenile when you got them?

one will become more dominant and eventually take the female role..it will just take time if they are playing rough a bit i wouldnt be concerned if fins get ripped off and things of that nature then I would say remove the one getting beat up

yup they can go male female but not back to male. Here is a great link that explains this
