Someone on here was kind enough to donate some xenia frags to my newbie self (which was SO great, thank you!!!) but there's a little snag... and while he thinks it's ok I thought I had better check with the rest of you guys in case this ever happened to anybody else. I have a tuxedo urchin, fairly small (2-3 inches across), and he likes to collect things. Apparently he decided to collect one of the frags, and the xenia seems very ok with it. So he has a small xenia growing on his head at a sort of jaunty-top-hat angle... and they both look perfectly happy. I thought it might not last but it's been almost a week now. I just want to make sure that as the xenia grows it won't hurt the urchin. Anybody have a clue on this one?

It's fine. The urchin will probably drop it off at some point.

I had one in the shop that wore a red mushroom "beret" for a while. Ditto they pick up zoanthids, empty shells... whatever.

I daresay in the wild, it helps propagate some corals - they pick 'em up in one spot, drop 'em off in another. Petty neat really.

My urchin did the same thing, he was carrying brown polyps around for about 2 months. It was hillarious.
