hey folks,
i feel that i might still be in the dark ages and could use some help getting up to date. i'm still using a wet/dry filter with bio balls. i have 2 29 gal tanks in the basement doing nothing and thinking i need to make a sump/sandbed/fuge or something like that. i have looked for some videos on just such a thing and struck out tonite finding one, although i have seen them before. i have extra live rock in my empty 55 gal upstairs and live sand also, would like to add the rock to my tank downstairs and use the live sand to do a 2" sand bed below, 86 the bio balls i suppose, i also have an extra return pump that i could use for flow some how. knowing what i have to work with how would you make my reef better, course there is always the old saying "if it ain't broke don't fix it. :confused2::)

Or, you could add a denitrification filter and complete the nitrogen cycle. I have one of these, but you can accomplish it much more simply via other methods or DIY, too. Vodka dosing is popular, but often misunderstood.
