I bought a 3 polyp frag a month or 2 ago and the polyps were dime sized. Since then they have become pencil eraser sized. I have tried high light and low light. Can anyone add any suggestions? Parameters are all good and all other palys, sps, and lps are thriving.... Thanks in advance.

I had a single polyp that grew to 3 polyps, mine in under LED's, about middle of the tank with moderate flow. Hope that helps.

I've seen zoas do weird things in different tanks. I had a colony of watermelon zoas I got from someone that had 75+ zoas that were only a fraction of an inch in diameter. Within several weeks of being in my tank, they were all nearly triple the size from when I had gotten them.

As long as they're opened, I wouldn't worry about them too much, just keep an eye on them to make sure they don't completely melt away. If it helps any I have my UC on the sandbed in full light and they're doing great. Bought a single polyp and I'm up to five or so now.

UC are Palys not zoas right? I have had zoos melt but have not had any any palys melt, maybe i have been lucky.

Same here dball..it's strange. Great growth from all my sps and palys.just can't keep zoas around

I've had the same problem with UC's. Putting it in lower light worked for me.

I have mother colony and several frags that have multiplied like crazy under just blue leds and very little flow. When open there the size of dimes.

Low light should open them back up

Mine are 20" under a couple hydras on my 65. They are nickel sized, bright, and grow like crazy! Almost ready to trim them before they get onto the rock scape . Hope this helps

My Zoe's did a lot better when my water was a little dirty. Once I started getting my n & p values near zero I had a horrible meltdown and lost a lot of Zoe's. I'm carbon dosing and maybe it brought the values down to fast. Open brain was not all that excited about it either. SPS was happy as a lark with quicker growth and coloring up. It's coming back around now just finishing week 8 of CD. I've been taking pics every 4 weeks of the same corals. I'll share that in about another 4 weeks.

It is my understanding that zoanthids, and palys expand to allow more surface area and thus more light absorption, which would suggest that lower light would promote a large oral disc. Which is what I have always experienced in my tanks.

+1 what Dave said. Mine are under almost exclusively blue LEDs and are nice sized and multiplying. Have you tried to dip them just in case something is irritating them?

Ben, It sounds like yours is taking off like mine and I'm happy to hear this.

Didn't you get your Utter's from me? I thought the last time you where here you picked some up from me.

Yea Ben those Utter's you and I have came from my good friend Greg Leonard. That's explains why Greg's, yours and my Utter's are so healthy and flourishing
