UV Sterilizers

i have one on my 90 it helps keep water crystal clear and free of parasites ...just remember to run water threw it slow.....and a good one that is cheap would be a coral life turbo twist any one of them the bigger the better....some may say different and some may not ....its a matter of opinion

I have a Coral life Turbo and a Current USA Gramma on my tanks and they work great.

I have read some stuff about a quartz sleeve. Do all come with it and do they go bad.

i have an aqua uv that i do not use but did at a time and they are byfar the best IMHO. be sure to get a uv with a wiper.

All UVs come with quartz sleeves. Glass blocks UV light while quartx will not. The bulb goes inside the sleeve and the water flows around the sleeve. The sleeve will not go bad. Be sure to clean it every few months or so to ensure efficient use of light.

You should be good with 9 watts of UV for a 65 Gallon....I would also recommend the turbo twist like Vic said, and I use a 9 watt Custom SeaLife Double Helix UV unit which is I would also recommend.

I'm a fan of the turbo twist. My only grip is that they only have hose barbs. Some applications require rigid tubing, but other than that, I've installed many.

A wiper, is a built in device that cleans the quartz sleeve really easily so you do not have to take it apart.

UVs are all pretty much the same as far as function goes so you can usually just look for a good deal on one. Bulbs should be replaced around 6 months, but some go 1 year. I find wipers not very useful personally.

I have an AquaMedic and it is OK, but there are easier ones to work with out there. I believe DF&S has the Gamma ones on 25% off right now.
