Hey guys how are you all doing, my name is TK and im out of Lawrenceville. Like the title says im suoer new to salt water and just set up my tank not too long ago and been letting it cycle. I have it set up in a 60 gallon and basically more catered to a budget friendly build. As i didnt want to dip too far and fail lol.

But besides this one new tank i have a little over 60 tanks at the house as i do breed guppies and flowerhorns lol. Any tips would be greatly appreciated and thank you for your time.

Man, we've got plenty of tips! Welcome to the hobby and welcome to ARC! The most important part of this hobby is patience. It takes time for tanks to cycle and then mature. Since you've got a lot of experience in aquatics, you know all about the nitrogen cycle and what to look for. Jumping in too fast is probably the most common mistake and it sounds like you've got that covered and that's great. Could you post a pic of your tank and give us an idea what you're thinking of in terms of goals? Goal are a moving target but are you looking for a Fish Only With Live Rock (FOWLR) tank or a totally tricked out reef system? Some sort of hybrid where you keep fish and some corals?

Speaking for myself and a few others on here, there are quite a few folks who started out in and continue to do freshwater systems. Ask any questions as they come up but you're freshwater experience put you in a good spot as you're already familiar with a lot of the basics.

Welcome to the ARC - @jcook54 is right - tons of helpful folks here, new and old to the hobby. I'm on the newer side myself, but once I got addicted, I got addicted HARD. not sorry :P Anyway, whatever you wanna know, we're here to help. And if we can't help, we'll know what resources can help :P

Welcome! Sounds like you have a pretty good understanding so far. How long has the tank been up for? Budget friendly is always the goal as far as I'm concerned. Let us know if there is any equipment that you may need or just need info on.

Reef tanks are, in many ways, very similar to freshwater planted tanks... still with differences of course. Do you have experience with planted tanks by chance?

Welcome! Definitely take your time and enjoy every detail of this hobby. My tip would be to become a supporting member, it’s well worth it in the discounts alone and much more

thank you guys for the warm welcome, i am looking to get a hybrid tank with fish and corals. I would like to start off on more hardy easier coral first though and ease my way to the more advanced ones later on. I'm one of those type of people that likes to learn before doing, so I just take my time lol. At the moment I have live sand, live rock, 2 clown fish in the system (added them once the system was cycled) but I would eventually want to add more rock and coral soon. Is there any corals you guys would recommend to start off with?

Welcome to ARC and to the hobby. And I second everything @aestheticlibra and @jcook54 has said. We have a great community here. I'm new myself. And I've learned a ton in the short 6-7 months that I have been here. I've asked and will continue to ask my questions bc there is a wealth of knowledge here.

I could give you a small frag of pulsing Xenia if you would like. That was my first coral in my system. Some people don't like them but I love it bc of the movement it has.
