If I leave my small external water change pump running for a long time (aka weeks) making new salt water, it ends up just stopping.

Anyone else have this issue or is this pump now old and crappy?

What kind of pump is it?

It could be caked with calcium - a vinegar soak might solve. OR check the impeller and volute.

It's a small blueline and yes it gets a buildup of crap (calcium) quickly and stops all together. There has to be a better solution.

I actually have used a mag to recirc mine and it runs for days, never had to clean it but it does sit internally.

Mine is external, handles the recirc and pumps the water out to my first sump during WC's. Guess I should just get a new one. I've cleaned this one 3-4 times.

i remember, hmm very odd, still under warranty? and what size is it again?

(biting my tongue for sarcastic response......)

No. IO is fine by me (and my coral). :)
