Hey Folks: I would like to perform a water change (regular maintenance), but my GBTA has comfortably positioned itself near the very top of my tank. I am concerned about dropping the water level while performing the change and exposing the GBTA to the air. I change about 15 to 20 gallons a month (on a 55). The process takes about 30 minutes which I think is way to long to have the GBTA out of water. Will it slide/move down on its own as the water level drops? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading.
Best,

Tony

I personally wouldnt worry about it. I would try to speed up the process though...

30 min won't hurt it at all. We got my RBTA off a rock it was sharing with another by hanging it upside down out of water for well over an hour.It will probably deflate and retreat down the tank as was said. No worries!

If you have a sump you can just perform the water change by removing the water from the sump. Then your water level in your display won't dip.

yea no need to worry itll probably just stick where it is but being out of the water for 30 mins isnt gonna hurt.look up videos of the tidal zone in fiji huge patchs of corals are exposed to the air for the entire time the tide is out and im sure there are a few nems mixed into that. so if they can handle 6 hours in the wild than half an hour out of ur tank is nothing

I agree with all of the above. But another solution would be 10 gallons every other week or 5 gallons every week.
