My tank finished cycling last week.... I put 2 clowns and a little foxface, prolly 3 or 4 inches. I dont have a skimmer in running in the system atm, its in the mail, but parameters so far have been spot on! (except for nitrates)

8.2 PH
0ppm - ammonia
5ppm - Nitrates
0ppm - Nitrites
TEMP - 78 -80 (depending how accurate the thing is)

I was wondering how much of a water change I should do if any today in my 120? Also is it a big jump because my ro water is 1.022 and tank water is 1.025? is that a big jump for them? I did just add a little more salt to the ro but dont wanna over do it.

Thanks

I would do a 30% wc since you don't have a skimmer yet and your trates are starting to show. Have you tested for amonia?

15-20% every two weeks is pretty ideal, IMO...but I rarely am able to keep that schedule. I'm more of a 10-15% every three weeks guy! :) As for your difference in SG (salt level), try and get it as close as possible, keeping in mind that SG differs slightly with a change in temperature. Now that you've got a few critters in there, prepare to slow down a little so your system has a chance to adjust. What's your live rock situation there?

I had quite a bit more, but I like the simple 2 island look. I took the bio-balls out of my sump last week and put the rest of the rock in there. I have been told a few different things, let the water be for now is one of them. Thats why I asked. I know the fact that I dont have a skimmer atm is gonna make things a little different then I would normally do. I dont plan to put anymore fish in there for a bit, got some other things to buy.... lights and other equipment. I wanna upgrade sumps too.

I havent yet had 0ppm in nitrates so I dont think they are climbing too much, but I know what your saying.

And yes I tested for ammonia as said in the first post :P The test came back negative for ammonia.

i've been known to do a 45% wc every 6 months, i'm bad very very bad boy. :bash::bash2::boo::slap:
