Anyone know how the water is in centerville?

The reason is I need to replace my RO/DI filters and I am almost ready to add water to my new 46g bow front set up.

I am wondering if cycling my tank without ro water would be ok...

If you have a TDS meter you can test your ro water, you may not need to replace them. I have a meter if you want to bring me a sample I can test it for you. I am in Lawrenceville-grayson area. That is a little far for a simple test. Maybe slayer77 has one, he is in the macon area. if not you could try local shops. I would not use unfiltered tap water. That is just MHO...

good luck.

I am in the market for a tds meter. I need to find someone with one. I decided to start filtering some any to see what I get from it..

Dude, I use to live in Warner Robins and the water sucked. I live in Perry now. If you need to test your water supply you can meet with me and test it. I wouldn't use tap water however, I use too with horrible results. LMK!

Our water is among the best in the country, but i still would not use it to start a reef tank up with. The main reason is our water contains a good bit of phosphates.

Your water is probable the same as mine. Tap TDS of 30-40 ppm. (nations average is about 200ppm) TDS meters dont tell you about what in your water, it just tells you the Total desolved Solids.

Yeah I am going to test my water for phosphates and nitrates today. The I am gonna look on ebay fora tds meter.

I just started running my RO/DI antway and figured if its not perfect it's atleat better than Tap...

Cool, I bought one ffrom the atlanta area for only 20 bucks shipped first class. It's an HM pre calibrated.

I am glad I decided to do the RO/DI water. My tap water has about 10 PPM Nitrates and about 5 PPM phosphates.

My RO/DI water has 0 for both. So hopefully the TDS will show at least close to 0 before I change the membranes...

Well I got the meter in today! 19ppm from tap, 0ppm from the ro/di so I guess I don't need to change any of the filter membranes....
