how do you get that semi-clear white haze off the top of your glass, where your water level usually is???

i tried using a brillo pad, and paper towels soaked in distilled vinegar.

No brillo pad! Get a glass scraper from Wal-mart in the pet section or any lfs.
Yes vinegar will help break it down

i only used it for a second to see if it worked. and i use brillo pads to clean wine glasses, and crystal.....doesn't harm them.

and yes, i just double checked :p

so a glass cleaner will get that off, regardless of the fact that i can't even feel it against the glass?? weird

Tip, when you soak the paper towel in vinegar use some celephane (sp?) wrap over them so they do not dry out. Then go for a flat razor (window scraper)

Really? I need some too, I looked at HD last time, all I saw was their crappy lexan sheets that do us NO good.

This is a supplier in Smyrna.

You can also use fiberglass rods which are stronger than acrylic and they can be purchased through Mcmaster Carr and come in all sizes I believe in 5 and 10 foot lengths.

or in a pinch if you do not need large one the fiberglass flag that are in the bike section of most wal marts will do for smaller pieces

I have always used the razor blades that go in a utility knife on my glass- that w a lil vinegar water soltion in a bowl to rinse the blade and keep the glass wet. the blades are a little more sturdy

yeah ijust foudna better one.

i've got one of those tools (mine's like 50 yrs old.) that uses a razor blade, but it's flat and not edged on the ends. it's a rectangle. i think it's a paint scraper of some kind, but it worked REALLY well. only thing that concerns me is that it's ancient....and all metal, haha.

I am going to order some very fine glass sanding pads since I'm getting a new tank. Ill let you know how it comes out.
