I am looking for some advice on how/where to build my mixing station.

On one hand i have a garage
Pros-it has Plenty of room. water access near my utility sink, a place where waste water from RODI can be drained (main benefit). Can use my current Brute Cans for storage.

Cons- Decent ways away from aquarium (maybe 50 feet on same level) which would mean long water hauls or what i would most likely do is try and run a water line with an external pump.

Then i have my the room where my aquarium sits.
Pros- close access to water. I can use gravity to fill up ATO and possibly water changes. Water access. somewhat easier water changes.

Cons- very limited room(would have to design and build a custom station to fit the space or take out more shelving thats needed to be used for quarantine tank ect..) buy some kind new water containers, adding a lot more time until i can get my tank up and running. No where to waste any water for the RODI or for water changes. I

I do have a water line that goes to the side of the house where an outside hose can connect to its faucet. I have been thinking of drilling a small whole for the RODI to exit and insulate it. I have also thought about drilling a bigger hole so i could pump out waste water from water changes. that would be very nice. I have also thought about tapping into a sewage line but i have no idea how.

I do have a bathroom in my basement that could possibly be accessed through overhead ceiling tile.

I am going to get some pictures and give you all a visual and if any of this is confusing or not written well i apologize i am in a super big rush at this time. My gf just bought 3 new fish and another 20gallon quarantine tank i need to set up.

a> I'd do something like that and then have a hose you can plug into the external pump to pump into sump. That seems to be the most straight forward

If you can run a tube from your RO in the garage, up through a wall/ceiling etc., to a better location for the mixing station, you get the best of both. Only needs to be a 1/4" tube - it CAN run up from the unit - it will work on water pressure. Have an ASV on the RO unit and a float valve on your receptacle, and you're all set. The ASV will shut it down when the receptacle is full.

I used to have dozens of feet of lines running through the ceiling in my shop - to a storage vat and every sump in the place.

Lots of ways to go...

I like to ask "what makes maintenance easier and simpler?" It just seems that when it's easier to do, it's more likely to get done.

Just my two cents...
