Who is using a web cam to keep an eye on your tanks? Thinking of getting one to see levels, corals, fish and what not while I'm away. I am sure my wife is tired of lugging the i-pad downstairs to let me do face time with my wet pets.

What are you all using, any recommendations or products to steer clear of? What features like pan, swivel, zoom (how much, 4X, 8X, 10X...), motion or sound detection, hi-def or standard. Do you use an app to view on a smart phone, tablet or laptop?

I used a hd foscam for a while with all the above features, worked like a charm.
Bought it at best buy.

I use an old iphone, but this required a lot of technical know how to set up the network so I could access it.

I am in the same boat right now, but want one that will be compatible with Apex Fusion as well.

Looking at these two:

Marlon,

You have/had your Foscam linked to Fusion? Did it work reliably?

This is what I am leaning toward...

I bought the Samsung smart cam on sale afew weeks back at costco for 99.00. It was super easy to hook up. Its not to bad.

Just setup a old cell phone and use it as a network camera. Cheap, easy and call it a day.

I have the same D-Link model
Quality is not as clear as I would like
Also for some reason it goes offline for hours at a time

I mainly got it as I am on vacation so I could check in with the guys, but in practice it is hard to see much in the way of fine detail

I have a Foscam. When it worked, it worked fairly well. I won't put it in the excellent category. I changed networks and lost connectivity. I need to redo it but as I recall, it didn't like an AT&T network (I know, not a problem for you :0))

Grant- I have the first one and I'm not impressed on clarity. It's very easy to connect, but if you're wanting a very clear picture... move on!

I got this at Fry's.
Has limited zoom.
Has motion detection.
They have a mobile app for viewing.
Works flawlessly.

I may grab onevof these , for 30$ with the viewing app thats a hard deal to beat

Tagging along...

I've tried Trendnet and Winbook webcams and am not really satisfied with them. They work but are not as clear as I'd like.
