Don’t know what happed but everything was great when I left this morning... just got a FaceTime from the wife, the yellow tang, who was eating great and coming to life in the tank somehow got stuck in the powerhead. And by stuck I mean face first. He would always eat the little bit of algae on it from time to time just so weird. He didn’t get hit by the blade he was just stuck. Not sure how long he was in there he is out now and I will be doing a water change tonight. Damn I just want to leave work and go home and test the water now.

Has anyone ever seen this?

I wouldn't think you need covers for powerheads, unless you decide to have anemones in the tank in the future.. Sometimes freak things happen, that's what I'd chalk this up to. Sorry you lost a fish like that.

Yea just a perfect little gap for his body. She said he was stuck at the gills did not come out easy...

depends on how big that tang was and it wasn't strong enough to pull way when your pumps ramped up... my tangs are always picking on my pump heads but they are about 4" now

sorry to hear tho - yellow tangs are one of my favorite fish

This thread jinxed me. Copperband was eating well, wasn’t getting bullied... was excited to see what he’d do to the aiptasia, but he caught in the power head today.

I’ve got him in a specimen container with a bubbler right now, and he’s just laying on the bottom breathing really heavy. I’m not sure what to do at this point.

Oh no!!!! Was he trying to clean it too?

I lost a cleaner shrimp two weeks ago to an MP10, so I can empathize. A bit disturbing to come home to shrimp bits flying all over the tank.
