What color does the green di turn?

I just installed a new color changing di filter on the end of my ro. I can see its Green now. Does anyone know what color it will change to when it's bad.i think it's brown,but not sure????

And how long should I let water run through it or how many gallons should I let run through it before I actually use the water

Put your RO/dI unit in flush mode when you first start it up. I let it run for just 3-5 mins then switch back to production mode. I believe the green turns to reddish-brown when it's expired.
 
It's usually a tan/brown, but it will start from either the top or the bottom of the filter. It doesn't all turn at once. That makes it much easier to see when things need replacing. When the entire filter has changed, get a new one.

+1....I forgot to mention that. It changes as it depletes.
