What could it be?!

So last night I hear this cracking sound coming from my tank......I'm sure it's either a mantis or pistol shrimp......it sounded exactly like a little toy cap gun.....any thoughts?...I've never actually hear a mantis or pistol before....but this was pretty LOUD!!!!

Probably a pistol. Notice any sand mounds coming and going near your rock?

There's one on the back on the tank in my "tunnel".....but I did just get a jawfish and thought he made that...was kinda figuring it was a pistol...although I wouldn't mind having a mantis in my sump....granted I could even catch him

If it's a mantis.....you'll hear lots of repeated pops. Pistols are usually spaced out or random pops.

My pistol would fire off 2-3 rounds in about a second.

Glad he's gone...

Oh ok.....cool.....yeah it was 3 last night about 2-3 mins apart...
