My wife just asked me what I want for Christmas!:yay: LED's or APEX? I currently have a 90gal DT and run a T5 4bulb Deep Blue Xtreme for lighting which I'm not completely sure can be controlled by an APEX. I also have Koralia Powerheads that I also don't believe can be controlled. I plan on upgrading the powerheads down the road, but I'm not sure if the APEX with be worthwhile at the moment, although I do like the convenience of the parameter monitoring.

Which should I go with??

My vote wold be Apex in a heart beat. LOL But then you knew that already didn't you. :-)

:lol2:hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I just can't seem to make up my mind! It could go either way!! If I could only get a definitive answer!

It is a controller for your tank can do all kinds of things with it

An Apex can definitely change both your tank and your quality of life for the better.

LED's are still evolving, and may not be ready for prime time yet (IMO).

You have lights which are working. You don't have an Apex.

I suggest you get the Apex.

You can always go for the LED's later. They will improve and get less expensive, given time.

I was in a similar situation and I chose the Apex first, then added the LEDs. I kept the old lights, now I'm thinking of adding them back in. Metal Halide and LED's- can never add to much PAR.

The apex is wonderful, though it takes some time to learn... and has wonderful customer support (I've used them twice with great results both times).

Well I think I'm going to post in the WTB forum and see if anyone is planning on "getting out" before Christmas!

I love my LEDs, my Apex is just ok, but I believe this is the right logic.

Apex for sure, I dropped nice bills on mine but never looked back.

Edit: BTW that apex will run anything, with the exception of the addon modules to fully control scaleable powerheads and LEDs.

It cannot control the amount of flow from koralias no. It CAN however with the right module control the 12 volt koralias that are designed to be scaled. Koralia evolution series are on or off; no in between.
