For long term success of your reef?
Is there some equipment or reef "helper" you feel is crucial to long ten success? What is it?
Me?
I need a bubble algae predator and maybe a matrix reactor

;)

More patience and planning than I ever dreamed.

Really though:

Skimmer (a great one)
Refugium (Great tank buffer)

I think I misunderstood. Thought you were talking past.

For the future..... I'd like to have a carbon reactor maybe. I'd also like to change the PCs for T5s and try that for a while.

Had to correct bouble algae

Premier had a really great deal on a naso...though, it was a little bit ago. I'd check with them (if you were serious). A good skimmer, great reflectors and some gfo.

I was close to a naso for BA but knew it wouldn't be longterm in my 120 and didn't want all the extra bioload for the SPS. Instead I cut back my feeding a bit, kept on a monthly gfo routine, and started adding 2 emeralds every couple weeks. I have 6 of them now and things are looking a lot better.

Edit:

Regular or pond matrix? Running it in your sump or reactor?

good biofiltration, pumps for water flow, and waterchanges. i ran a 1 gallon tank for a year with just those things (well that and things like food and light and whatnot).

I've been planning my setup for many years now. I'm maybe halfway home now. I want to setup an emergency electrical backup plan to include solar, portable generator, as well as a generator to power my future "reef mancave". I also want to setup a large "water changing laguna" to sustain my future tank setups. I'm still in the pre-planning phase of operations and will probably be in this current stage for some time to come.

lots of money and lots of time for research and lots of patience... ask of which I'm short on. Lol
