They are commonly called sweepers, basically reaching out for food, I have seen them reach out and touch other coral as well. Euphyillias are pretty strong and can do some seroius damage. Beautiful specimen btw.

Sweepers can get very long. You'd be surprise how far some of those can reach and what it will kill. I usually religate LPS like those to an area of their own for that very reason.
Looks to me like it's trying to sting its neighbor. I'd move anything that's downstream from it. It doesn't have to physically touch its neighbor to do damage. Back in the day I lost 3 heads of candy cane to an aggressive hammer that couldn't quite touch it (but was up-current from the candy) before I realized what was going on.
Once I moved the candy, the remaining polyps were fine.
Euphyllia are aggressive. Doesn't take much to keep your other stuff safe, but knowing what they are capable of can save you some grief.
Woot, looking good. Glad that has worked out for you. As stated they are sweeper tentacles and can sting rather badly. Mine puts out huge sweepers, it's kinda cool to see.
