What does it take to make dry rock live?

If I have a bunch of dry, once LR can I mix it with LR to make LR?

Is this hard? Pros. and Cons?

Dead rock+some live rock or sand+time = live rock.

It's done all the time and a way to start out more cheaply than with all live rock. Just need to allow more time for tank to cycle as bacterial cultures establish themselves in the rock...

^^^^^^^what he said^^^--just takes more time--you are "seeding" the dry LR.

Just let the rock cycle and it will be "live" rock. It'll be safe for fish once the nitrogen cycle is over.

you could prob. speed the process up by taking some smaller pieces and scattering them throughout your rock and that will help seed it better by spreading the area out too
