I will grace you and this thread with my presence, being the founder of Club T5 here at ARC. You are allowed in if and only if you have transcended all earthly misconceptions that MHs are better than tubes, or even comparable, and become one with the phosphors. If you are having trouble with the last part, I have a guy thats got some killer stuff to help you on your journey.

I don't get it, what are the latex gloves used for then that I had to bring to every initiation seance?

Very good sense of humor. I was actually hoping initiation would involve the armpit length pvc gloves and Eheim tongs! :-) LOL

I used both only and in combination over 25 years ago. Part of my 20k investment in this hobby in the mid 80s. I now seek simplicity: low-bio load, frequent water changs, one 55G tank, etc. Thanks for the funny reply.

I am looking into something that simulate dawn and dusk -mostly dusk (I naturally achieve dawn). Does anyone have any inexpensive ideas?

Learned to SCUBA in Freeport. Did some DS fishing there too. Unfortunately, I get terribly sea sick no matter how many "patches" I wear. I don't miss NY. Like it here much better.

I saw Dave (Acroholic)'s chalice tank which, though it uses MH lighting, had six Coralife LED modules around the perimeter of the reflector. 4 LEDs each, so there were 24 blue LEDs total. It looked completely awesome with the MH off and LEDs on. The colors in his chalices looked unreal like that. It was very close to perfect dusk/dawn lighting, depending on the size of the tank. Yours is a little smaller, so I'm thinking maybe 4 modules would be ideal. It looked FAR better that my D/D actinic T5s.

I attended parochial school for 12 years, but I don't think we are talking about the same type of chalice.
