So I tested with an app kit and the ammonia test it doing something weird

Either didn’t add enough or didn’t shake it up?
Did what the instructions said to a t.. even did it a 2nd time and had the same problem. I'll do it a 3rd time and set timers lol
Maybe your salinity is too high? When last you checked that?
Good call.. it's not extremely high but it was at 0.30 which could be the reason.. thanks @soupiemelody

Yea I’m fresh out of ideas there. If it’s doing the same with your tank and a freshly made batch of saltwater I’m guessing it’s faulty?
I'm going to make a batch of saltwater and do a water change when I get back

Get a better test kit. Salifert or red sea

Ok...was wondering why you were using an api test kit. Being that it looks like you have nitrates and no nitrites I'm thinking your ammonia is good. Don't know why the ammonia is so milky though.
wondering how old the test kit is.. might be the reagent is bad.
I’ve used tests that were expired years before and got same results as new kit. All crappy
It expires in 2025
You were only using 1 of the regents weren’t you?
