Hi, I am setting up a Biocube 29 G on Saturday, what is the best live sand brand? It is going to be a coral and fish tank, and it is coming with 50 lbs of Tonga.
The sand out of a friends tank!
Flyingarmy has some that he will give you as well as well as I do. Use an arogonite base sand or crushed coral (depending on planned inhabitats) and seed your tank with a couple of cups of sand from an established system.
Get some aragonite sand from a pet store or one of the sponsors, and seed it with sand from a reefer -- you'll get a wonderful diversity in the sand you seed it with.
Any "live" sand you get from the store will be barely alive if at all after having sat in a plastic bag for months, and it will not be worth the price at all -- you're mostly just paying for water.
