I am working on fixing up the new tank and part of doing this I need to find a hinge to hold up the top of the canopy. On the back it will have regular hinges to hold it on, but on the inside I want to have something that works like a stopper. I have seen them before but I can't figure out what they are called to find them online. They are pretty much a aluminum arm that extends when the top opens and then locks it in place at a certain spot. Anyone have any ideas?

Look here.

Thank you! Okay so they are called Lid Stays, Now i just need to find one that will hold up about 25 lbs. I can do one on each side if needed. I just want the canopy top to be able to open to 90 degrees Max.

I had to run real quick as I found that but there are others that I think would work better. I bet HD has the ones I am thinking about. Let me do a quick check on line.

Try this.

Not sure how that would work.

So with that one I can set the degree that I want it to open to correct? If so that's perfect!

I think so but not positive. I would shoot Grouper Therapy a PM. Bet he knows exactly what would work nice.

Okay what about this..

I like it a bit better because you can lock it in multiple positions. Here is what I am trying to accomplish..

The top box is not currently attached to the canopy, the previous owner removed the top of the canopy and then suspended the top box from the ceiling. I don't want to do this, so I am going to cut a hole in the top of the canopy and then use brackets to attach the top box to the top of the canopy. But this will make it heavy and also not something I want to be going upside down since it has my lights inside of it. I want it to be able to lock into place at anywhere from a 45 - 89 degree angle max. This way it doesn't get to heavy on the back side and flip off against the wall.
