I rescued a nano last week and found these red bubbles all over the LR. Is it cyano or something else? How do you get rid of it?

I took all of the rocks out of the nano and isolated them to a 5gal tank as soon as I got it. The tank is in a very dark place, I figured that was a start. How do I get rid of it?

1. Manual removal of the problem alga
2. Suppression via appropriate herbivores.... turbo snail, Emerald and Ruby Mithrax Crabs will eat it
3. Denial of resources...Nutrient suppression & light

Get em small, cover them with a baster, scrape the baster along the rock, when the bubble comes off release the plunger and suck it up. Discard and repeat. If you have a lot to do, by the time you are done you will be ready to add new mixed water to complete the water change. Be aggressive with your manual removal.

I have had this before in my sump. I do not think it is as bad as the green ones, but I do not know that for sure. It should come off in bunches if you are gentle and can then just pick it out, best time to do this is during a water change with hose in tank, your pipe can be used to suck away the smaller ones that you knock free, the larger ones just hand/net gather. They are easier to deal with than alot of other algae problems.
With good flow and clean water they will disappear over time.

There are hundreds of them. The tank is in a dark place and won't get any food for a while. I dumped about 100 sanils in there, but they have a lot of work ahead. I will start the manual removal this weekend. Everything is isolated to a 5gal tank now so water changes should be easy.

Because the LR had more bad stuff on them than good stuff I started with a dremel tool and a cut off disk. My plan was to cut off the good stuff and throw out the bad with the LR. Those dremel disks smap like potato chips so I got out the die grinder with a 3" cut off wheel. Like a hot knife through butter... I managed to save about 80% of the good stuff, the other 20% was surronded by the bubble algee and I didn't want to risk it. Thanks to all for the advice.
