that doesn't look organic to me.... Looks like your mag float had something on it that smeared it around?

only other thing I can think of.... what additives have you added recently ?

B

It looks like maybe a calcium carbonate precipitation. What additives did you recently add? Did you add buffer? Add any calcium chloride? This will come off with a razor blade. Don't use a razor blade though if this is acrylic!

PS What is that on the back/side wall with suction cups ...a frag rack?

and the yea its a small frag rack i got from amazon, works pretty good

greg...where you able to get white stuff off? I am not family with the Seachem product but am with the Kent A & B. Be careful when adding A & B. and Seachem product that they do not mix with each other. Just my .02

Calcium carbonate precipitation will be more know its on your heather and pumps impeller. Anyway what I would do is scrape a little and take some of it to mix on a little cup with vinegar solution to see if dissolves. If it's calcium, it will hurt really bad removing it with scraper.

have not scraped anything off yet. waiting for this guy to come in: http://www.amazon.com/Lisle-52000-Razor-Blade-Scraper/dp/B0002SR88C/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1354570439&sr=8-12&keywords=glass+scraper">Lisle 52000 Razor Blade Scraper : Amazon.com : Automotive</a>
so i should scrape a little off put it in a cup of vinegar and see if it dissolves? what will hat tell me and what do you mean its on my heater pumps and impailer? i just changed heaters due to my last one cracking.
if it is calcium carbonate precipitation, would that lower my ph?
My PH has been ranging from 8.1 to 7.5. 8.1 after i put Eight.Four in then the ph lowers throughout the day. getting frustratedly battling with unbalanced (LOW) PH levels i put about 20% of a liter bottle of eight.four in the tank last night which raised the ph to 8.19
now the ph is at 7.6?

No idea about the white stuff, but these are three good articles about keeping the levels balanced:

I can not confirm wheter you have calcium precipitation or other stuff is going on, and what I said is if that is calcium incrustation a small scrape off would dissolved in vinegar, and another way to see of this incrustation would be in parts where heat is present, like heaters and impellers, I'm sorry if my opinion doesn't help much

Based on this info I am betting you ha e a major imbalance and it is calcium build up. If you have an imbalance and keep trying to get cal levels up by dosing you are chasing your tail.

Have you checked mag Magnesium? If it is low, I would not dose anything else until it is up around 1450. Once it is stable at that level you can work on getting cal and Alk in line.

Hope that helps.

+1 to this. If you are adding 8.4 to get the pH up your alk is probably extremely high. Causing any calcium added to precip out. And looking at your pics. I would think no dosing would be required. 10% weekly water changes IMO should be enough to keep the appropriate levels. You might have to do several water changes to get the numbers back in balance.
