I noticed this little cocoon thing on the bottom of my Scoly today... Upon closer inspection there was a small worm-like thing poking it's head out... Can anyone ID this thing?

Thanks, this is my phone's camera. I just saw it pulling in some slimy stuff to catch debris... I don't know if it's a snail unless snails attach themselves to things.

kill it asap those are bad ones thel grow through the flesh of lps damaging the coral best way i have found to kill them is to put kalkwaser paste in to the opening and a bit of epoxy putty over it you can also remove them a butter knife works well then cover the hole with epoxy or supperglue its important to seal the holes they can come back from segmints. check your snails for them also if they do remove the snail and toss it the worm will eventuly kill the invert

Biggest Vermeted I have ever seen. If you see cobwebs that is definitively what it is. Can Spionids get that big? I only ask because I can see bits of sand at the bottom of the cocoon/tube. The Vermetid tubes tend to be smooth.

That's just wrong - that's a sessile vermetid snail....

Question about that red fiddler crab....I believe that is a fiddler....does it burrow? I was under the impression crabs with eye stalks needed space to come out of the water? Is this correct or was I mis-informed?

I haven't seen it burrow. But I do think you're right about it coming out. I had another one and it died I'm suprised the other one is still alive. I'm planning on making a place for them to get out in the sump when I finish with my upgrade.

I have read about red burrowing reef crabs, but I was not sure. I was just watching my hermits fight, and noticed they have eye stalks too. I always tend to have too much rock and a little sticks out the top. Just upgraded now, and am barely half way up the side of the tank. Hopefully this will change soon!

My Evo says it's 8 and it's worthless!

same here.. my droide charge is 8 and takes absolutely terrible pics. my old HTC inspire 4g was 8 and took great pics.

Edit: adorable crab.. hope he has a place to climb out to get some air.

I have something like that, but it actually same around like a snake(only about half a centimeter in length). Only saw him once though at night, havent seen him again.

For you android guys, find and use the app Camera360 it adjusts the focus and the quality of the picture better than the stock camera. That's what I use... and a little patience...
