What is this?

Can anybody please help me identify what this is? It showed up one day in the bottom of my tank. I thought it was some sort of debris. Then it moved overnight and attached itself to a rock. It doesn't bother me, but I would like to know what it is.

It's an algae, and I can't remember the name of it, but that's about all it will do and it will fizzle out on its own in short order.

Had my tank up and running for years using compact florescent lighting, then got MH and those things went crazy everywhere in my tank, for about 3 weeks, then withered and disappeared.
