Can someone please help identify this anemone and how to eliminate them?

I have many of these on some live rock I purchased from a fellow reefer and would like a little info on them.

Thanks in advance!
Nate

Anemonia majano.

Evil.

Kill it with fire (or better still... Red Sea Aiptasia-X).

Worse.

We just had a batch of rock brought to us from someone exiting the hobby. The boys have been on a murderous rampage with the stuff for 3 weeks now. Aiptasia X works well, but it's not a one-shot deal. There are always ones hiding that we miss... so it takes a little while to get them all.

Not much eats them - a few butterflies do but those species will also eat your coral.

Curiously, the other day Scott dipped a rock in straight vinegar (the rock had no other corals etc., on it) and the Majanos died instantly (acid - makes sense)... of course goodness knows what other good micro flora and fauna were sacrificed too...

I recommend Aiptasia X - we've tried other preparations: Joe's Juice, Stop Aiptasia, home-made kalkwasser paste, lemon juice... and others, and so far the Aiptasia X has done the best job.

I would pull the rock out of the tank and nuke them and nuke them now! Majanos are wicked bad. Don't risk infesting your entire tank. Your current LR will reseed this LR in no time.

Some aiptasia X, joes juice or. You can make some up of Bournemans recipe.. Kalk, water and red devil lye.. I imagine lye kills about anything..

I would kill the rock, good stuff and bad. Take out the rock and soak it in bleach for a week. This will insure that nothing makes it out alive. Then rinse the rock really well, let it dry and put it back in the tank.

The LR and LS you already have will colonize this rock very quickly and you'll never know it was nuked.

I recently nuked ALL of my LR. I've been curing it in SW for a month or so now (I've added amonia to get the bacteria started). Once in my tank, all I will need to do is add a little live rock or even a scoop of live sand and some corraline scrapings and I'll be good to go.
