Well its time to change my lights and just wanted to get your opinion about the lights. I currently have a 29 gallon reef tank with 30" coralife compact fluorescent lights. 1 65w true atinic 03 bulb and 1 65w 10,000K bulb. What i am asking is kind of bulbs should i use?

Should i stay with what i got or go to a 6700K or 50/50. With the bulbs i currently have i do not get a blueish look to the water. But do i even want or need the blueish look?

Thanks for the input

the color of the light is really up to you and what you think looks best. I prefer a whiter light. 6700k is a great (though yellower) color temp to grow corals with, i believe it is right around the temp of the sun at noon... and typically bulbs in that range of 6500-10000 produce the most PAR per watt (though this depends some on manufacturer).

hth,

Matt

I like the look of the 50/50. It will give you a slightly whiter/bluer look than the 10000K, but it is completely up to you. You don't need to blue look. It is a personal preference.

Should or could i go with both bulbs 50/50 or 1 50/50 and 1 atinic? I like the blue'er look but just dont wont to go to blue with it. But i just want to get the best light for my corals.

on my 30 gal i have 1 50/50 and on acinic i only have softies and they are doing great with that combo.

If you like the blue look then put your actinic toward the front of the tank...
(assuming you get 1actinic + 1white)
