Thinking of getting one as still no closer to deciding what to actually do with my tank. (only been running since January).

But i hear they eat crabs and shrimp so what would i use??

BIG hermit crabs, you know the ones with shells the size of baseballs. Maybe lots of nassarius or olive snails that stay hidden in the sand? Fighting or queen conch? Just throwing suggestions out...

This has been a question on my mind for quite some time. It's one of the reasons I haven't gotten a lionfish.

Whatever you get, the lionfish is going to have to perceive as being too big to fit into his mouth... otherwise, they are a food source.

The other answer is: a LOT OF cleanup crew. Lionfish do not seem to know when to stop eating!

I had wondered the same thing... It seems like most would become eventual food. What about spiny sea urchins? I guess they would be more for algae control, but it seems like they could hold their own.

maybe some super tongan nassarius snails.....they stay in the sand unless you feed the tank....ive you feed the lion well at feeding time them he may not bother them....theyre pretty large....the one i have are about 2" shells....
