I have a clownfish and am trying to figure out if he is a False Percula or a Maroon Clown?

I have been doing a lot of "googling" and my fish does not act aggressive toward me or the other critters / fish in the tank (Damsel fish, snails, crabs, a feather duster, and a starfish). I am going to purchase another Clown this weekend and am debating between a False Percula (my first choice) and a Maroon. On another note, I JUST noticed (about 15 minutes ago) a purple smudge across one side of my fish (not his entire side, about the size of a pinky finger nail). I have live rock and a hermit crab with purple growth on them; can it rub off onto my fish if they brush against it? Being new to all of this, I'm peranoid about fungus, etc. Thank you all in advance!!
