Get some used salt water from a member and put it in a tank with a power head and heater. Leave it there until your tank is ready for rock.

It's not very porous to be used as biological filtration. The big pieces would probably be good for holding a door open.

I have several large non porous rocks in my tank that I used for base rock.

My folks got me some coral when they visited the USVI thinking it would be great for my tank. I explained that it would just get grown over and it now sits on my bookcase in front of my fish books.

How about drilling some holes of varying dameters in them to provide hiding places, points of interest, and to insert frag plugs? Maybe good rock for an African Cichlid tank?

A few seconds with a sledgehammer and you will have all the rubble you will ever need for frag mounting.
