What size return pump?

I'm looking to buy a new return pump of my 37 cube and would like to ask what size you guys would recommend. I have about 8' of head with (3) 90s. I'm also going to tie in a SCWD which would tee off the return to the tank. All plumbing is 1".

Thoughts?

I suggest a 'net' turnover of ~5x your tank volume.

You will at least have these losses-

-head loss from the 9feet

- about 6% flow reduction from each 90 degree elbow.

- loss from internal pipe drag due to boundary layer effects. There are calculators for this.

- the SQWD will drop flow. Refer to them for an idea of how much.

- any reactors you need?

Buy a bigger pump than needed. You can always recirculate the excess using a 'T'd off' ball or gate valve.
